Presentation of Awards - Congratulations to:
S. Thetus Boyd - Outstanding Female Delegate (award accepted by David Retland). Ms. Boyd has been a resident of the Dupont Park community for several decades. She has served along with others on the neighborhood watch program. As an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner for ANC7B, she has kept visible to the District of Columbia government, the difficulties of the citizens who live East of the River.
Ralph Amis
Presentation of Awards - Congratulations to:
Ralph Amis - Oustanding Senior Delegate. Mr. Amis has been a resident of the Dupont Park Community for forty-five years. He has served as both a Recording Secretary and Chaplain for the Dupont Park Civic Association. While serving as President of the Foreball Golf Club, he helped established the Junior Gold Program, which resulted in his assisting several young persons to receive scholarships to various colleges to further their education helping them to become useful, contributing citizens in their local communities.
For the past ten years he has served as an instructor for New Deacons at New Bethel Baptist Church, as well as for the General Baptist Deacons Association of Washington, D.C. As a Deacon, he ministers to the sick and shut-in, helps the homeless members of the church, as well as members of the New Bethel community. He provides transportation to the sick for doctor appointments and for members to attend church services and meetings.
